The Name Changes, but the Commitment Remains

Aecon’s US branch grew from roots in Frontier Construction Company which was formed in 1985 as part of the Foundation Co. of Canada. The Foundation Company was the original contractor who constructed the foundation for the Empire State Building in New York.

In 1997, Frontier and several other companies were consolidated to form BFC Frontier, which became part of Aecon Corporation in 1999 when they were acquired by Toronto-based Armbro Enterprises. Today, Aecon Corporation is Canada’s largest publicly owned construction and infrastructure company.
